President Bush and Politicians Running Wars

How do you tell when an American politician is running a war? When it looks like Vietnam. Often the libs will cry "Vietnam" when a Republican is in office and they want a war to seem senseless. Of course they use their short-term memory to conveniently forget it was Kennedy, a Democrat, that dragged us into Vietnam in the first place, but oh well, who needs facts like that anyway?

Now we are in Iraq and Afghanistan, trying to turn over day-to-day fighting operations to the locals, and what are we winding up with? Some similarities to Vietnam include:

> The enemy hits us & runs to territory where our soldiers aren't allowed to follow
> The enemy dresses like the locals & hides among them
> Our military has their hands tied when it comes to combat operations
> 5 years of war later & the Iraqi military has as much determiniation to fight as my son has to get out of bed on a school morning. The terrorists told them to lay down their weapons, lay down their uniforms and leave, and wow, wouldn'tja know it, they did it!
> The locals in Iraq aren't rising up against the slaughter or trying to run their own country.

This could go on & on & it is pitiful. I'm tired of watching the war reports of our men & women being killed & injured. Our brave soldiers go over there & die & are maimed, and for what, for a country (Iraq) who won't defend themselves? For a military (America) who won't allow them to kick ass & take names?

When will we win the war? When we stop trying to win the hearts & minds of the terrorists. They want nothing less than Iraq on a platter, & if we don't wake up soon, thousands more of our brave soldiers are going to die in another political war.

President Bush, you are the one in charge of this situation. You are the Commander in Chief of the United States military forces. Do your job and allow our soldiers to do what they are in Iraq for, to get rid of the terrorists and come home.
