Turban Durbin
This is fun.
Sen. Durbin comes out constantly saying how he wasn't talking about our brave men in uniform, how he has so much respect for them & wouldn't dare besmirch them. So this comment means?:
"you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime."
and
"The administration should apologize to the American people for abandoning the Geneva Conventions,"
(from http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44846)
What must have been done by whom? Maybe the tooth fairy was extracting teeth instead of waiting for them to fall out?
Sen. Durban directly compares the "administration" and American soldiers to Nazis and Stalin and he says we're taking it out of context.
He pretended to apologize yesterday but that didn't wash. It was so fake everyone knew it. I'm sure the Dems were giggling when he did it & thought that would wrap it up. It didn't.
Fortunately us Bloggers stayed on him as did the media outside of the mainstream. As usual, they didn't want to talk about it.
So today he comes out with another lame apology. He even added a little drama with crocodile tears and pretended to be sorry about what he said.
Liar
Let's look at his "apology":
"Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line," the Senate's No. 2 Democrat said. "To them I extend my heartfelt apologies."
"Some may believe..." Yep, not you Mr. Senator. That's the point. You don't believe you crossed the line, and now Americans around the world have to live in fear because of the hatred you have stirred up against us.
What bugs me more though is the wimpy Republicans. Instead of throwing the bum out on his butt, they ask him to apologize? What kind of stupidity is that? Obviously he wasn't going to really apologize. Obviously the rest of the Dems all stood behind him.
Let's look at a few comments by the wonderful Dems:
-------------------
"But Democratic leaders said they consider the issue closed and will not talk about it any more.
Asked about the reaction to Mr. Durbin's comments and his apology, Mr. Reid said he was through talking about the controversy.
"The American people have really had it up to here with what the president is doing and not doing and what the Republican-led Congress is doing," Mr. Reid said, pointing to a copy of the New York Times in his hands that had a front-page story about the falling poll numbers of President Bush. "
The statements made by Senator Durbin speak for themselves. I stand by the statement he made," he said. "We are not going to discuss this any more."
Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, refused to address the ADL criticism of Mr. Durbin, saying only that Republicans "will do anything for a diversion."
--------------------------
Mr. Reid, I hate to tell you this, but the reason President Bush and the Republicans are doing so horrible in the polls is because they are wimps, not because they aren't the party that Americans trust right now! Americans have voted Republicans in office to replace Dems for 11 years now, but the Reps don't' get it & they get wimpier every year.
Thank you Charles Schumer for blaming Sen. Durbins inexcusable remarks on the Republicans. Someone had to come right out & do it from your side. It is par for the course for y'all to screw up & then blame it on the Republicans.
A couple of other interesting points from that article:

Sen. McCain:
"I think that Senator Durbin owes the Senate an apology -- I don't know if censure would be in order -- but an apology, because it does a great disservice to men and women who suffered in the gulag and in Pol Pot's 'killing fields,'?" Mr. McCain said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
You think?
http://washingtontimes.com/national/20050621-121514-9288r.htm
"In a letter to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Mr. Frist, Tennessee Republican, said previous bids by the Senate's No. 2 Democrat to clarify his remarks didn't go far enough."
Reid spokesman Jim Manley called the Frist letter "pathetic."
I've said it before, the Dems will say and will do anything right now. They are so looney I think they just don't know it. Fortunately, it looks like most Americans get it.
(I hope)
