In the interest of news

Dan Rather pushed the story of memos that purportedly showed proof of President Bush having dogged military service while in the Guard. Everyone has been pounding on this story because it is obvious Mr. Rather wanted to push his anti-Bush agenda.

I think the issue that is more important is how people like Mr. "the media isn't bias" Rather skips over stories that are against candidates he is for. The swift boat vets have challenged anyone to prove false any story in the book Unfit For Command. It's not that none have stepped up, they have tried, all the challengers have been proven wrong.

So why didn't Mr. Rather consider this a news story? There is more obvious proven evidence that John Kerry was a pot-smoking, anti-war, medals throwing, America hating, lying person then can possibly be imagined. Yet it wasn't a news story to Mr. Rather. John Kerry went to Paris to talk with the communists about peace, breaking the laws of this country by negotiating with an enemy. Not a news story Mr. Rather? Not only did Vietnam Veterans against the War, which Sen. Kerry was a member of, plan to kill United States Senators, the man who planned these assasinations is on John Kerry's payroll today. Not a news story?

Even Bill O'Reilly ran stories that made it seem as if the vets were just partisans out to get Sen. Kerry. It took him three weeks to interview Mr. O'Neil himself instead of getting his news through the general media. Initially Chris Wallace did an examination of the truths in the swift boat vets story, also without interviewing Mr. O'Neil. His conclusions were ridiculous and the going over of the evidence with O'Reilly was ridiculous.

Bill O'Reilly let his past association with CBS and Dan Rather cloud his judgment. Even though every expert across the country showed that the memos were false he wouldn't go against his buddy and former station.

Dan Rather let his bias cloud his judgment. When was the last time 60 minutes II ran a story showing Sen. Kerry's problems?
